What are the Top 5 Christmas Songs of all time!? It’s time to find out, on: IT’S THE SECOND ANNUAL CCCAHCSS (Cultural Content Consumption Appraisal Hour Christmas Special Spectacular)!!!

A happy holidays and very merry Christmas to all of our listeners. We just had to get into the spirit of the season in the only way we know how - by doubling down on the gift we created through improvisation last year, except, with a new musical spin! We’ll have to leave reassessing our Top 5 Christmas Movies list for another week, year or podcast! Sorry if any of our listeners took any of our “we’ll do this again next year” claims regarding another movie-specific Top 5 seriously. That’s on you.

Last year, for our Top 5 Christmas Movies episode, we relied on TimeOut. This year, we relied upon them once more. In this instance, Jeffrey and Christopher did not particularly love the TimeOut list of Top 50 Best Christmas Songs of All Time. Maybe because it was put together in 2024. That is just far too fresh and new for these geriatric millennials: https://www.timeout.com/music/best-christmas-songs

We also stole a glance at Spotify’s Topsify playlist for the top 100 Christmas Songs. It was equally baffling, honestly. I kind of don’t know what is going on with anything anymore: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5OP7itTh52BMfZS1DJrdlv

The internet seems to have scraped the SNL “Baby It’s Cold Outside” sketch starring Jimmy Fallon and Cecily Strong, that we talked about on today’s episode, from all official accounts … but much like Jeffrey trying to get his “Baby It’s Cold Outside” hot takes off while Christopher struggles to take the heat … we will not be silenced! Also we found it on Facebook of all places lol I never expected Facebook to show up in the shownotes. Maybe one day we’ll watch The Social Network, I guess. Fuck you Mark Zuckerberg: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2323626974632377

Shout out Aylesbury’s primo shopping centre and the Santa’s Grotto (that should arguably rely a little more on the more classic carol songbook of Christmas songs): https://friarssquareshopping.com/

The super famous clip of Bing Crosby and David Bowie singing “Little Drummer Boy” needs to be included here because Christopher blanked me when I mentioned it and more importantly I’m starting to realise we may have created quite possibly the least classic top 5 Christmas songs list of all time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCpXMy5GalI

We look forward to THE MOST ENGAGEMENT since the last Christmas special for this podcast. Apparently one of the hosts has already live streamed the recording of this episode live on YouTube!? No idea why. So surely there is a lot of discourse already discoursing. See you in the comments, chat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1qmuvHq6r8

A merry JXMas, by the way! Shout out an honourable mention pick courtesy of Mariah Carey, Christopher and friend-of-the-pod James: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qlhz3Sp5OrE

And a Happy HBG holidays! Shout out an unmentioned honourable mention pick, courtesy of Jeffrey, the Mortemore bros and Rage Against The Machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRjiSfEffgI

Now, this is Christmas, this is the bit where I say “Merry Christmas” and he says “Merry Christmas” so … Merry Christmas: https://cccappraisalhour.show/

We are looking forward to getting back to our regularly scheduled programming of pitching, scoring and guessing as we ring in the new year with you and our weekly episodes. As an obscure band from the 2010s called the Heartbeat Generation (how did they manage two references!? Your cheque is in the mail lol) once put it: “it’s always been time to begin and it always will be time to begin”: https://open.spotify.com/track/3kHCUpJXcuWr95umwVW8pN?si=e10251e8a76a4c78
