Today we’re going to be sharing a few tips on comparing yourself to others on social media. Everyone gets caught up in the comparison game. You aren’t alone if you’ve ever started to feel bad about what you don’t have. But there are ways to pivot your mindset and stop comparing yourself to others.
Tip #1: Be aware of your triggers
One of the first steps in stopping the comparison game is to take step back and be aware of your triggers. There are probably specific situations that might cause you start comparing yourself to others.
· Is it seeing people on vacation that triggers you?
· Is it seeing others share shopping hauls?
· Is it seeing others make money?
Chances are that these triggers exist because of some previous experience you’ve had or belief you’ve accepted in your life. We recommend identifying the triggers and then writing down why it’s not a productive use of your time to dwell on what others are doing.
Tip #2: Remember social media is a highlight real
Another way to break the comparison cycle is to remind yourself that social media is a highlight real. People are sharing photos and videos of those incredible destinations after the content has been edited. People probably aren’t sharing:
· The time it took to travel to the top of the mountain
· The time spent road tripping to a location
· Bad weather or hiccups along their trip
There is so much left off social media.
