Today, we’re sharing 3 quick tips for small businesses getting started with social media for the first time. If you’ve recently launched a business or your family business as tasked you with building up the social media presence, this mini-sode is for you.
Tip 1: Identify your business goals and then identify your social media marketing goals
One common mistake new businesses and small businesses make is that they look at social media and assume it’s going to equate to sales.
While social media can help you achieve your monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals, posting on Instagram or Facebook does not result in overnight sales. TikTok videos can go viral and help drive store traffic, but you also can’t assume you’re going to go viral if you’re just getting started.
Tip 2: Start with one social media platform, then expand
If you’re brand new to social media, we recommend picking one platform and learning how that platform works BEFORE you jump to the next platform.
Each platform works differently and requires different skillsets. If you’re creating an Instagram page for the first time, we recommend getting familiar with:
· Taking and editing photos
· Recording stories
· Learning what hashtags are related to your business
· And following other companies in your niche to see what they’re doing and using the platform.
We also recommend setting up your profile – link your website, your email address, and have a profile picture that either features your logo or you.
