12 Skills Content Creators & Influencers Use for their Careers

Let’s debunk this myth with: “being an influencer isn’t a real job” and let’s breakdown the skills that content creators and influencers use in their careers:

 1. Photography/Photo Editing 

Many content creators and influencers take and edit their own photos. Photography is a skill. Photo editing is a skill. Both skills take time to develop.

Brands hire influencers to produce high-quality photos for social media ads. Both of us have had brands’ re-purpose our photos for websites, email marketing, or add paid dollars behind our images to boost ads.

 There are content creators out there who have been hired by brands to do commercial photography. 

 2. Project Management 

If brands don’t provide a timeline, I provide the brand timelines as well as share status updates on what step we’re at in the brand collaboration. As a former project manager, I’m constantly prioritizing/de-prioritizing tasks, planning and scheduling content.

3. Creative Director/Stylist for Photo Shoots

One thing you’ve been seeing more from us this year is our mood boards and our ideation process for photo shoots. What you guys are seeing is the creative direction behind our photo shoots.

 Influencers and content creators are both creative directors and stylists for photo shoots. If brands are putting together a photo shoot, there’s usually someone who is the creative director managing the overall vision. There’s also someone styling the shoot – whether that’s with wardrobe or the actual set itself.
