Psalm 23: 4 Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil because, thou art with me
Because of The Fall of Adam in the Garden, the earth for mankind became a wilderness, the valley of the shadow of death.
The trial of Jesus in the wilderness can also be seen as an example of our lives on this earth, and the same can be said of the journey of the children of Israel through the wilderness to the promised land. The Christian life is a journey through the wilderness of this world into the land of God's promises.
Fasting humbles us and as a result we develop a closer relationship with Jesus. As we press forward in this journey to the land of God's promises, God has given us fasting as a key to living in victory in our Christian walk
Moses, Ahab and Daniel fasted when they needed forgiveness for sin
David fasted when he wanted his baby restored to health
Ezra fasted when he needed Protection from danger
Israel fasted as a nation for deliverance from their enemies
Through fasting believers are seeking God's favor, a closer relationship with Him and in an Increase in supernatural anointing to accomplish great deeds, therefore, fasting should always be accompanied with prayer
