We have to understand that we've been indoctrinated into the ways of the world since our youth. Almost everything we understand about life comes from our understanding of how to navigate through the ways of the world. Consequently, when we are born again, we bring many of those ways with us, in other words we don't instantly throw off the ways of the world and in many cases, we don't even recognize or distinguish them as worldly, wrong or harmful to our Christian walk.
The gospel Jesus preached is called the gospel of the kingdom. He preached the kingdom because he wanted his disciples to understand that the kingdom way of seeing things and the kingdom way of doing things was completely different than the ways of the world, we've grown accustomed to.
Jesus would say, the kingdom of heaven is like this and the kingdom of heaven is like that. What Jesus was teaching His disciples was to see things from a kingdom perspective.
