Challenges of Discipleship: Developing a Life of Prayer

MARK 11:17
And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? 
Not a house of preaching, Not a house of music, Not a house of politics but a house of prayer. This means that according to Jesus the primary activity of any place of worship dedicated to God should be prayer because that’s what we’re supposed to do most.

Why is prayer more important than singing and preaching? Prayer gives God permission to interfere into earthly affairs. In teaching us the model prayer, Jesus said we should pray to the Father saying, "Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Little have we realized the simplicity of the little statement is actually giving God permission to intervene into earthly affairs including our family, our finances, our health and every aspect of our lives. If we truly understood that principle, we would never stop praying.
