Being still is not only a command, it is a major challenge of discipleship. The last thing most of us want to do is be still.
Being still encapsulates a lot of different meanings and connotations. Most literally it means to stop moving and to stop doing. But it doesn’t only mean to stop, it also means to start, start reflecting, pay attention, listen with spiritual ears, listen with spiritual ears to what God is trying to say and It also means to remember who God is.
It means to start thinking from God’s perspective, realizing that because he’s God, he has all the answers. When you’re busy and you heart is restless, it’s fairly impossible to hear God. Notice this is a command and this particular command— “be still”—forces us to think on two things: that we are finite, and that God is infinite
We pray this teaching blesses, edifies and encourages you as it has us. So sit back open your bibles or if you’re listening while driving or working, invite the Holy Spirit to give you insight and spiritual ears to hear as Pastor Art goes into today’s message.
