Last May, Comm Center covered the case of Mantua Township Police Officer Salvatore Oldrati and his response to Charles Sharp's 9-1-1 call. Sharp said armed prowlers were on his property entering his truck and shed. But that was all a lie. Sharp was under the influence of cocaine, methamphetamine and was carrying a replica pistol, and daring police to shoot him. To preserve his and another police officer's life from the apparent threat, Oldrati opened fire. Sharp tried to reach for the fake gun even after shot. Finally stopped, Oldrati attempted to saved Sharp's life. The New Jersey State Shooting Board and the old Attorney General cleared Oldrati. He returned to duty, winning officer of the year again, and was promoted. Then new AG Matt Platkin assumed office and dug up old cases to prosecute and found a cop to string up to make him look tough in the 'Defund' era. Three years has left a good man and his family fighting for what's right. Hear from Barbara and Drew Oldrati-- the officer's parents-- for the truth of this disgraceful sham prosecution.
