Memorial day weekend is traditionally the kick off of summer. But it's more than that. It's a tradition and holiday that originates back to the end of the civil war. It was originally Decorations Day, and was made an official federal holiday in 1971. Now known as Memorial Day. A time to come together and remember those who gave their lives in defense of America. It started with a tradition of decorating the graves of those that sacrificed. This Memorial Day I'm going to have more thoughts of those that sacrificed than thoughts of Summer and barbecues.
