Too often, when someone chooses to walk away from a sport, a friendship, a relationship, or anything else for a valid reason, they’re made to feel guilty. The person (or people) they left behind may gaslight them, painting them as weak, disloyal, or simply “giving up.” And while that might be true in some cases, it’s not always the story. Sometimes quitting is an act of strength, clarity, and self-respect. I’m pushing back against the professional manipulators who shame people for making the choice to walk away from unhealthy situations.
