Many years ago it was common for Christian parents to teach their children a bedtime prayer that began with these words: “Gentle Jesus, meek and mild, look upon this little child…”. For a child, it was a beautiful introduction to God’s Son…like who wouldn’t love him? But that was only one side. Another side of Jesus is the God/man who is passionate, resolute, brilliant, and to the point, in how he lives and how he speaks. When it comes to his sermon on the hillside, he makes his expectations very clear. Are you ready?
