#53 - Understanding Gender Identity And Sexual Orientation As A Leader With Jennifer Wiessner

In this episode, host Dr. Tarryn MacCarthy chats with a sex therapist on creating a team or culture of inclusivity when it comes to sex identification. Jennifer Wiessner shares the ways in which to address the new generation of sexuality and inclusivity at home and in the workplace. She shares tips on how to handle using the right pronouns and asking for their preferences. She also talks about following your intuition and how to do so.

Jennifer Wiessner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, sex educator, and presenter in Cumberland, Maine. Although there are 4 now, in 2012 she was the only female sex therapist in the state of Maine. She has a private therapy and consultation practice and sees couples, groups, and adult individuals, and creates and facilitates the popular Raising Sexually Healthy Children workshops to educate parents, medical providers, and educators on why talking to kids and teens about sexuality is a healthy and normal part of life.

Along with public speaking on healthy sexuality, Jennifer loves to do non-therapy individual and couples consultations to get them on track with their sexual selves. She sees her work as a vocation and herself as a superhero for healthy sexuality wherever it is needed. Jennifer is head over heels with her partner of 25 years and has two teenage sons whom she adores.
