When life goes well, gratitude allows us to celebrate and magnify goodness. But what about when life goes badly? Having a grateful attitude during a tough time not only helps make life bearable but is also essential. In this episode, Dr. Tarryn MacCarthy discusses gratitude and its impact on our happiness and shares an emotional story of how gratitude helped her climb out of a very depressing time. Gratitude won’t come easily or naturally during a tough time. We cannot easily will ourselves to feel grateful, less depressed, or happy. But being grateful is a choice, a prevailing attitude that endures and is relatively immune to the gains and losses that flow in and out of our lives.
