#133 - The Art Of Detachment in Service with Tara Fournier

In today’s episode, Dr. Tarryn MacCarthy is joined by a Registered Hygienist and Founder of The Awakened Hygienist, Tara Fournier. They talk about the law of detachment and how she gives her patients the same care and support without getting attached emotionally. She also shares how she helps fellow dental hygienists find their purpose, pursue their passions, and become awakened hygienists just like her.

Tara Fournier has over 26 years of experience in Dentistry, initially starting out as a dental assistant right out of high school and then graduating dental hygiene school in 2002.

By 2007 Tara was already feeling the burnout of her career.  She decided to go back to school for a number of different certifications all while continuing to work chairside.  She holds certifications as a Mind-Body Wellness Practitioner, Yoga Instructor, Reiki Master, Transformational Life Coach, and Holistic Health Coach.

Tara has been able to use her knowledge of health and wellness accompanied by her skills as a life coach to educate patients in ways that stand out from other hygienists, making her an asset to her patients and the dental practices in which she has worked.

After years of coaching women around body image, relationships, life changes, and communication skills as her side business, things took a turn for Tara in 2020 when Covid hit our world.  She decided it was time to turn towards her profession and teach other hygienists how to make themselves distinguishable from others by becoming a Mentorship Coach for hygienists.  She has now created a 6-month Leadership program for Dental offices that teach offices how to define their business and office culture, create leaders out of each team member, and improve patient communication and trust for higher profits.

Tara is known as The Awakened Hygienist and says…. “The most expensive and dangerous phrase dental offices use is we’ve always done it this way”
