As they seek out what the common beliefs of the first century Jewish people were, they discover verses in the New Testament that quote books that are not found in the Old Testament, specifically Jude's quote from The Book of Enoch. Strikingly, the character of "the Adversary" changes over time and takes on a more sinister role as these non-canonical writings like The Life of Adam and Eve and The Book of Jubilees convey.
