Work expands to fill the time allotted to it

  1. A list of all the ingredients

    • A checklist is one of the miracle inventions of the world.

    • Use checklists liberally in your systems creation work

    • Defects and Do-overs happen bc someone did not create a checklist of all the materials the Work required

    • OR they didn’t use it. Don’t assume that just bc you created a checklist – your staff will use it.

  1. A measured amount of each ingredient

    1. Every good recipe uses measuring devices – spoons, cups or weight or whatever – THIS IS HOW YOU CREATE A PREDICTABLE PRODUCT EVERY TIME! THIS IS NOT UP TO THE DISCRETION OF THE WORKER – IT IS UP TO THE PERSON WHO CREATED THE SYSTEM –

  1. Equipment needed to make the dish

    • The Right equipment is a Huge part of a successful system

    • You may need the measuring cups to get it just right

    • You may need a piece of equipment to make the work faster and easier

  1. Step by Step instructions

    • Now we are talking about Process

    • All work follows a logical process

    • Step One – – – THINK and do not assume.

    • Get someone from outside your industry

  1. Pro-Tips – all work has Tips, Tricks and Techniques that you learn from years of doing the task. Make sure you include these!
