In this episode of The BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Podcast, host Graeme Smith dives into the hidden histories and cultural impact of queer photography.

First, filmmaker and creative director Sam Shahid joins Graeme to talk about Hidden Master, his acclaimed documentary on photographer George Platt Lynes. Shahid reveals how he discovered Lynes’ daring images of queer life and beauty, the challenges of telling a story once kept in the shadows, and why preserving this history remains so important today.

Later, Graeme is joined by Paul Martineau, curator and author of Queer Lens: A History of Photography at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Martineau reflects on the photographers who helped shape modern visual culture and explains why visibility and representation continue to matter in contemporary art.

From Platt Lynes’ mid-century work to today’s galleries, this episode celebrates the artists who framed queer lives with courage and artistry.
