1. The Rejection of the Messiah Is Not Total — 11:1-10

a. Has God rejected his people? By no means! (v1a)

b. Paul was a Jew and is still saved (v1b)

c. God did not cast off his people which he foreknew (v2a)

d. Elijah was one of seven thousand remnant (v2b-4)

e. What was true in Elijah’s time, is true now (v5)

f. God saves Jews and Gentiles by grace through faith (v6)

g. The elect got righteousness, while the rest were hardened (v7)

h. Israel whole is hardened and Israel remnant is elect (vss 8-10)

2. Israel’s Rejection of the Messiah Is Not Final — 11:11-32

a. The Purpose of Israel’s Stumbling — 11:11-15

1. Did they stumble in order that they might fall? (v11)

2. Israel’s restoration will bring greater blessings (v12)

3. Paul magnifies his ministry to the Gentiles (v13)

4. So that more Jews will be saved (v14)

5. The acceptance of Israel will mean life from the dead (v15

b. The Rebuke Against False Teaching — 11:16-24

1. Holiness is passed on to the lump and the branches (v16)

2. Natural branches are Jews, wild branches are Gentiles 17

3. Gentiles don’t support the root, the Jews support them 18

4. Branches broken off so gentiles could be grafted in? (v19)

5. Broken off because of unbelief, grafted in on faith (v20a)

6. Do not become proud, but fear (v20b)

7. Gentile blessing is contingent on faith not works (v21-22)

8. Israel’s eventual restoration will be on faith (v23)

9. Israel is the cultivated tree that will be restored (v24)

c. The Promise of Israel’s Restoration — 11:25-32

1. The mystery is the gentiles are fellow heirs and there is a partial, temporary hardening of the Jews (v25)
