a. Melchizedek and Jesus - 7:1-3
1. Melchizedek was priest and king (v1a)
2. Melchizedek blessed Abraham (v1b)
3. Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek (v2)
4. He was an independent high priest as is Jesus (v3a)
5. The Melchizedekian Priesthood was timeless (v3b)
6. The Melchizedekian Priesthood was to all (v3c)
b. Melchizedek and Aaron - 7:4-10
1. Melchizedek accepted tithes from Abraham (v4)
2. Levitical Priests collected tithes from their brothers, Melchizedek collected tithes from their patriarch (v5)
3. Melchizedek blessed Abraham (v6)
4. The lesser is blessed by the greater (v7)
5. Melchizedek represents the living, not the dying (v8)
6. Even Levi, through Abraham, paid tithes (v9)
7.The sons should recognize the position of fathers v10
5. The Levitical Priesthood and the Priesthood of Jesus -7:11-25 a. The Levitical Priesthood was changeable- 7:11-14
1. No perfection through the Levitical Priesthood (v11)
2.The Law and the old Priesthood were inseparable v12

b. The Old Priesthood was Temporary - 7:15-19
1. Another priest came according to Melchizedek (v15)

4. The former was set aside because of weakness (v18)
5. Old could not perfect; a new hope near to God (v19)
