S1E3 - The Book of 2 Samuel - Lesson 3 (Chapters 3 & 4)

Title: 2 Samuel 3 and 4. War and Politics - Lesson from Sunday January 26, 2025

Introduction: Chapter 3 opens by letting us know that “there was a long war between the house of David and the house of Saul.” It comes as no surprise that David’s house grew stronger and Saul’s house grew weaker. After all, this fits the plan of God that was put into play some 15 to 20 years prior. 

Not only that, but the leadership of Saul’s house was destroyed while the leadership in the house of David thrived. 

As our title suggests, along with the war in Israel, political maneuvering would also be a factor. Again, this is no surprise since that is almost always the case. War and politics seem to go together. 

In addition to the “long war” mentioned, Chapter 3 also begins by unveiling some internal strife in Israel which will lead us to the aforementioned political maneuvering.
