The plan was to teach a "Comparing World Religions" class this fall. Unfortunately, too few students signed up for the class. Nevertheless, the first lecture was given and recorded, and here it is. In this episode, we ask the question "What is religion?" Each religion answers ten different questions, and each religion answers those questions quite differently. This lecture analyzes how different religions might answer these questions: (1) What is the nature of reality? (2) Does God exist & what is God like? (3) What are the particular rules regarding the worship of God or the gods? (4) What is the origin of the universe? (5) What is the origin of humanity? (6) What is salvation and how can it be achieved? (7) What is right & what is wrong? (8) How should society be organized? (9) What is the destiny of the universe? (10) What is the destiny of humanity?
