Gender, race, age and religion are not the only types of stigma that exist in society. Weight stigma is pervasive in the United States. Fat people face discrimination in the workplace, the media, educational institutions, and in healthcare settings. Could weight-stigma lead to unhealthy levels of stress? How can we challenge weight-bias and discrimination in society and our own lives?
Kendrin Sonneville and Patrillie Hernandez joined the show to answer these questions. We also discuss body liberation, weight-inclusive approaches to care, and the effects of weight-stigma on children's relationship to food and their bodies. Powered and distributed by Simplecast.
