Episode 044: Not sure where to start with your book? Answer these questions first...

Putting off writing your book because you don’t know where the hell to start? You’re not alone, my friend. If I had a pound for every person who said they wanted to write a book but never got around to it, I’d be recording this podcast from a mansion on a hill by the sea.

But much like you, they haven’t started because they actually don’t want to write it. They just don’t have a bloody idea of where to start.

So that is why for the month of August, we are going to be revisiting some episodes from the archives so that whilst you’re chilling over the summer (you ARE chilling, right?) you can get back to basics and get some of that creativity flowing. That way, we can all be ready for the pedal to hit the metal come September - deal? 

So where was I? Oh yes...

The thing is, people write and publish books every day, so what do they know that you don’t? Well, the answer to that is exactly why this episode exists.

It starts with asking the right question, which is why do you want to write a book? Please don’t bore me by telling me it’s because you’ve always wanted to write one. I don’t care all that much (and neither does anyone else). 

You’re going to have to dig a bit deeper to get to the heart of it — that’s why I’m telling you how on this episode of The AUTHORity Show. I’ll share a bit of my own personal experience to show you how you can figure out exactly what you have to offer to your readers.

When you ask the right questions, you’ll know why your book needs to exist and who it can help. That’s the key to writing something that’s beneficial — to both you and your reader.
