“It was just a part of me, you know what I mean? It’s not an interest — it’s just all that made sense.”
— Anna Rosa Parker
Anna Rosa Parker has always paid heed to the creative spark inside her.
Before becoming a copywriter (and the co-host of this podcast), Anna spent many years working as a playwright and theatre actor. She began writing copy for Nordstrom in 2007, before launching her own copywriting and brand consulting studio, Dash of Copy. (She is definitely one of the coolest Viking copywriters working today.)
Anna never considered NOT pursuing work in one artistic field or another.
“I feel like it was just right in front of me and I didn’t think I had a choice,” Anna says. “I started to do plays as a kid at school, probably at seven years old. And I also always wrote little books — I was always creating little books. In the late teens, I got really serious about pursuing acting.”
During this conversation, we dig into early artistic signals, all-or-nothing mindsets, where guidance for artists goes wrong, building a business aligned with your energy, the benefits of having a creative community, and so much more.
In this episode of the podcast, you’ll discover:
>> The mindset shifts we sometimes have to make when we’re working outside of our creative fields, either full-time or as side jobs
>> How we’re robbing young creatives of opportunities when their artistic education doesn’t include more practical guidance
>> The differences between European and American speech patterns — and how having an accent affected Anna’s acting work
