Day 75: Untie the Knot

The “denouement” is the last piece of your story. This is where you wrap up any loose ends to finish up the book and help the reader exit the story.

1. Keep it short.
2. What needs to be resolved?
3. Can you encapsulate it all in some kind of “awards ceremony”?

Don’t ramble. Remember that your Driving Conflict is what compelled your reader through the story, and you resolved that in the Climax. Only curiosity is keeping the reader connected to the story at this point, and that’s a thin thread to hang from.

Don’t let the story fizzle out. End on a bang.

ASSIGNMENT: Write for one hour. Add at least 1,000 words to your manuscript. Keep your eye on the 90-day deadline, and force yourself to push through.
