And what do we tend to do when we feel these things? Most of us are taught and conditioned to do some similar to the following:
- ignore the emotion and try to bury it, or cover it with something else
- self-soothing by attempting to distract yourself (maybe even by giving yourself the excuse to partake in your favorite vice)
- Try to will the feeling away through "strength"
