Although traditional media in this country is regulated, new media is not. This has led to the flourishing of online news sites like Malaysiakini, The Malaysian Insider, Malaysia Today, Free Malaysia Today, and of course countless number of blogs. Last week, news that the government is considering expanding the Printing Presses & Publications Act to cover new media as well has shocked the online world. And there has been plenty of backlash.
