In today's episode, I'm chatting to Britain's first out Muslim drag queen, the phenomenal Asifa Lahore. Asifa first came into the national spotlight in 2014 when she was censored by the BBC for discussing Islam and homosexuality. In 2015 she appeared in the groundbreaking channel 4 documentary ‘Muslim Drag Queens’ and since then has established herself as a passionate activist on intersectionality, race, sexuality and religion. Asifa has spoken at Oxford union and in 2015 has delivered a talk for the Lost Lectures series. (which is still on youtube- go check it out after the episode!)
I was so honoured to spend some time with Asifa, she is a true advocate for authenticity and openness. Our chat was recorded via zoom back in July. Enjoy!
