Many women stay in an abusive relationship out of fear, financial security, lack of choice, the abuser threatening suicide, or even a hope for change. Many survivors feel ashamed of their situation. In today's episode I am talking with Kelly from Saint John Domestic Violence Outreach. Kelly shares her experiences of helping women who have been impacted by the trauma of domestic violence and also sheds some light on the supports and resources that are available in our community.

As I spoke with Kelly, it become clear that this is not issue that just impacts some people and not others. Anyone can find themselves in an abusive relationship. It’s important that we all become more aware of the signs that someone we love, or even ourselves, may be at risk of violence and knowing how to intervene if it does occur.

If you or someone you know requires more support, please contact Domestic Violence Outreach at 566-5960 for more information.
