From Shy Beginnings to African Streets: Nicola's childhood as the shy baby of the family and her transformative journey from those beginnings to dedicating her life to making a difference on the streets of Africa. A Perspective-Changing Trip to South Africa: At 16, a trip to South Africa exposed Nicola to glaring inequalities. Witnessing the contrast between opulent houses and families in cramped conditions ignited her passion for change. Founding S.A.L.V.E.: Nicola, along with Helen and Mike, founded S.A.L.V.E. (Support and Love via Education) in 2008 after witnessing the harsh realities of child poverty in Uganda. Mission to Reintegrate: S.A.L.V.E.'s core mission: reintegrating street children with their families or fostering, emphasizing the value of family over institutional care. Lasting Impact: In the past year, S.A.L.V.E. successfully transitioned 73 children off the streets with an impressive 88% success rate. Over 400 children have been rescued since its inception. Nicola's Unexpected Journey: Reflecting on the challenges, Nicola shares, "This wasn't the journey I expected to take, but no matter how dark and difficult the road has been at times, I am glad that it did."
