Michael and Maluseu are two dear friends, and to sit down together and record this episode was such a gift. If you want to explore leadership through a lense you haven't before, this is for you.  Perhaps you've never considered yourself a leader, or perhaps you're curious about leadership, or re-imagining what it means for you. Let this be a conversation that opens up new possibilities and pathways for you to step deeper into the calling you have on your life for leadership.

Maluseu Monise is from Rotuma, and describes themselves as a Hanujuologist. They are the co-host of the The Far Queue podcast, which invites conversations about access to equity within the context of Aotearoa. Maluseu has a background in tertiary education, is currently completing their Masters and if you're from the Waikato, you've probably met this giant charismatic myth at an event of some kind, because they're always showing up in community to serve, contribute and leave a legacy.

Michael Moore is a father, poet, story-teller and facilitator who brings a deep felt sense of aroha into every space he walks. He isn’t afraid to walk into the darkest of places, inside himself, and call forward parts of himself for integration and harmony, and supports men and boys to do the same.

In this episode we explore:

  • What inner-leadership is all about
  • The distinctions between transformation, transferring, translating and transparency
  • The three ways we can whakarongo
  • How your leadership is unlocked through your lived experience
  • How we need to decentre the teacher in education
  • What fear-based leadership looks like and sounds like
  • Inner alignment for creative expression
  • What we can learn from Hine-tiitama and  Hine-nui-te-poo
  • How to welcome healthy shame
  • What it means to be a hypocrite of your past
  • What we can find in the Va
  • How great story-telling is equally as important as story-releasing
  • Why we need to examine the stories we keep
