In the personal development space, especially around the beginning of the year, I hear a lot of people giving out some hackneyed advice, like “Just change your mindset!” or “Get out of your comfort zone!” While well intentioned, this type of advice comes from a gross misunderstanding of human behavior and what it actually takes to grow in life. The way I see it, growth doesn’t happen a straight line; it’s a dynamic process that moves through different mental and emotional states. Today I wanted to share the 4 states of growth, and why sustainable growth involves embracing these natural and temporary states, even when they’re challenging. If you can move through these states consciously, I have no doubt you can create a life aligned with your highest possible potential.
