What are some practical disciplines you can put in place to help your prayer life?

1. Get up. Get up early. Get up before work. Get up before the kids. Get up to show the Lord he matters to you (more than sleep, in my case). There is something about starting off your day with the Lord and letting Him set the tone for your day.
2. Outloud. When I used to have a long commute to work, I would pray out loud. I know I looked silly passing cars. 
3. Write it down. I love to write down my prayers now. Start a prayer journal and keep a record of your conversations with the Lord. 
4. Reminders. Put reminders on post-it notes or note cards everywhere. Where you brush your teeth. Where you wash dishes. On your dash board in your car. Set an alarm on your phone to go off during a time in the day where you can stop and pray.
