"When you do the practice the faith will come." --Rabbi Dawn Rose
I started practicing Islam in 1999 with my first Ramadan fast, but I didn’t set foot into a mosque for nearly 10 years because I was terrified.
Terrified because I had no idea what to do there. I didn’t look the part. I felt like an imposter. I had so many questions and no one to ask them to. But once I saw my religion as a practice that I could hone. One that I could get incrementally stronger in with each day, I took the first scary step into the mosque and it was there that I started to connect to my faith, and my confidence grew.
It’s not by accident that I’ve created a community called A Daily Practice. I share the story of how I came to embrace practice in every aspect of my life and what a difference it has made for me. Baby steps my friends, they are magical. Let’s go.
