The Journey
What do we mean when we talk about “the journey”? When we think about our own personal journeys, we often start at the place we want to end up - I want to be a doctor, or a lawyer, a dentist, a teacher, an engineer, you name it. But what happens when we reach that goal, the top of the mountain, and what’s on the other side? We don’t stop progressing or advancing. We have to go through our journeys presently, thoughtfully, and intentionally, while celebrating the steps we take along the way. 

Reconceptualizing the Journey
When you reach the top of one mountain, you’re at the bottom of another. In the journey, advancement never stops. We're always asking questions, growing, and thinking intentionally about our choices and next best steps. 

Here are some key takeaways from this episode:

• When you see someone else’s journey and think “Wow, they have it all figured out,” remember that the journey is never easy. 
• You have to ask yourself really important questions about the kind of life you want.
• The milestones, like walking across the stage at graduation or getting that promotion, only take up 1% of the journey. The other 99% of the time is spent working towards those goals. That 99%, what I call “The Slog,” is something we all experience.
• At any stage in life, realizing that you don’t have all the answers means you’ve given yourself more opportunity for growth. 
• Visualize yourself at the top of the mountain, at those moments of achievement and celebration, to help you determine your next best steps.
