How to Work the Room (Networking 101) | Coffee Is For Closers

As an entrepreneur or salesperson, you need a system for how to work the room (aka networking) at a conference, meeting or other live event. Today I'm giving you my best sales tips, secrets and tricks that will help you get in contact with more people that matter.

This week we took relationship management to a whole new place: the REAL world! I’m talking live events. Networking get-togethers. Trade shows. Places where you can actually speak to mentors, speakers, teachers, and influencers face-to-face.

Sounds kind of radical in a world that’s gone overwhelmingly online, doesn’t it?

But trust me: Making an In Real Life - “IRL” connection with a live person beats sending them 10 emails or giving them 20 Facebook likes & comments.

People need to connect with real people. And live events or live functions are STILL one of the best ways to build relationships that stay with someone a lot longer than a text or a tweet.

But if the idea of walking into a conference hall, walking up to a stranger, and extending your hand sounds about as terrifying as rollerskating across a bridge at rush hour, then this week’s episode is for you!
