Prayer 2021 - March 5 - Binding and Loosing

Scripture For Today:

Exodus 9:29

“Moses replied, “When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the Lord. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth is the Lord’s.”

Binding and Loosing

Yesterday, I shared with you the three requirements for the “Prayer of Agreement.” Just to refresh your memory, we referenced Mathew 18:19, “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven.”

The three requirements were, two people had to be in agreement concerning something. That was requirement number one. Number two was they both had to be alive and on planet earth and number three was that whatever they were agreeing and asking for had to agree with the Word of God and God’s Will. Amen?

Now, I want to share with you what Mathew 18 says is the pre-requisite for the prayer of agreement to even work. That is concerning “binding and loosing.”

Let’s take Mathew 18 but start in verse 18, just preceding verse 19. “Verily I say unto you, whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven. And whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.” Now, that says a lot right there…but I want us to take this verse and tie it to the next two, because Jesus is teaching on a complete subject here.  Let me start again…

“Verily I say unto you, whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven. And whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.” Verse 19, “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven.”  Now, verse 20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

We usually take verse 20 and apply  it just gathering together in Jesus Name during a church service. Yes, you can do that. But that is not the intent, nor the purpose, that Jesus was teaching on. When you take all three verses together, it is as plain as the nose on your face! Amen!

Jesus is saying that wherever there are two people who are agreeing in prayer, HE is right there to make it good. Amen! Jesus is bringing out the fact that whatever we bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven and whatever we loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven. Heaven will back us up in whatever it is we are praying for on the earth, in the prayer of agreement – as long as it is in line with God’s Word. Amen! We have the authority to loose and to bind. 

Instead of using that authority, it seems many people just let the devil bind them up and then we ask God to bind the devil. That is not what Jesus taught here. He put it over on us. But some people think they can’t do anything about the devil’s attacks. The Truth is (and God’s Word is Truth, remember?), the devil is a liar and Jesus, right here in these scriptures we just read, says it is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to bind and loose on earth through the prayer of agreement!

Praise God! Do you see it?

If you don’t know how to use your God given authority over the devil yourself, then find someone who does and get them to pray in agreement WITH YOU and BIND THE DEVIL that has been harassing you! 

THAT is what Jesus is teaching us here! Praise the Lord! Do you see it now?

The prayer of agreement IS for us today! What is Mathew 18:19 doing in the Bible anyway if it is not for us today? If it is not put there, by Jesus, to help us get our needs met? If it is not put right there in black and white, by Jesus Himself, to help us bind any demon or the devil himself that is trying to hinder us in our walk with the Lord.

Is there just to look pretty? Then we can say, “Oh, that is a good scripture, but it’s not for us today?” NO!  It is there FOR US to use – TODAY and EVERYDAY!

Amen!
