“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers and thanksgiving be made for all people…”

Intercession and Supplication part one

Another aspect of prayer is to depend on the Holy Spirit to help you pray the prayer of intercession and supplication. The Bible speaks about this and says the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us in Romans 8:27.

You must remember, the prayer of intercession is not something you pray for yourself. An intercessor is someone who takes the place of another in prayer. You intercede for others, but never yourself.

On the other hand, supplication means to make a “humble entreaty or request” on behalf of another. That is why we can make “supplication for all saints.” Amen!

By interceding for our unsaved loved ones and other unsaved people, things sometimes will happen in their lives we know nothing about. In praying in tongues, it is possible for you to interceded in the lives of others that save them from disaster or perhaps send someone across their path to witness to them. I pray this all of the time. “Send someone to them whose opinion they will respect and allow this person to open a discussion with them that will lead them to accept you as their Savior.” That is a valid prayer of intercession – especially for your loved ones. Amen!

These types of intercessions are often accomplished through the speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives us utterance. He knows what is needed. We are yielding ourselves to Him. We are actually interceding in a natural situation, through the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to come alongside and intervene in whatever the situation is. 

“Why does He do that, brother Bob?”

What does the Bible say in Matthew 18:19, “Where two our more come together in agreement, whatsoever they request in prayer, the Father will give them.” So when you and the Holy Spirit agree in prayer, while praying in tongues – there you go! Amen!

That is why I keep telling you that praying in tongues is one sure fire way to get your prayers answered a lot faster than praying in the natural. Amen! Don’t shout me down when I’m preaching good!

Now, I do want to make one very important point. Not ALL intercession and supplication needs to be done by praying in tongues. You can (and should) pray in the natural and with your understanding – as far as your knowledge goes. If you know the situation that is requiring your prayer, you can pray in the natural, to a point.

Once you have gone as far as you can in the natural, go ahead and switch over to tongues and allow the Holy Spirit to take it the rest of the way. Amen.

One reason more people are not being born again is because nobody is praying for them in Holy Spirit. Nobody is making intercession for them in the Holy Spirit

I believe it has been so long for most of us to remember what life was like before we were born again, how miserable and lost we actually were, when someone prayed for US in the Holy Spirit. Amen. You may or may not even know who it was. But somebody was praying in tongues for you! And look at you now! Amen!

We need to do the same thing for others. Let’s bring more and more people into the Kingdom of God as we wrap this ungodly world we live in. Pray in tongues more often and get more people born again through the prayer of intercession. Amen!
