Strung Out Episode 74 SLOBOVIA!

We are a nation of sloppy dressers.  Partly due to the pandemic, but partly due to cheap, accessible, comfortable clothing, we have become sweatpants nation, better known as the United States of Slobovia.  Each of us has that outfit or shirt that has one too many stains on it.  Each of us has that sweatshirt, either with a university we have never gone to or a state we have never visited.  We get into that dulled sense of acceptance as we stroll the aisles of Target, not even noticing that all of us are wearing the same outfits that are displayed on the models.  Being a Slobovian may create a certain illusion of equality, but it can be argued that it masks some of the deeper problems we have in America: a lack of self esteem, a willingness to be a walking billboard for a politician or political ideology or religion.  A sort of sloppy, overly-covered-by-fabric kidding of ourselves that we don't have to work out or diet.  It's a pandemic in which good taste and self-care has been killed off in the name of universal affordable bad taste.  And like the coronavirus, just when you think you have it all under control, out comes a worse, more virulent type of bad clothing.  All hail SLOBOVIA!
