Rachel Drew grew up the daughter of folk-musician-sweethearts, who met in 1972.  They played the old venues such as No Exit in Chicago's Roger's Park neighborhood.  As a kid, she knew she had the music within her, her mind spinning melodies of her making and lyrics to boot.  Finally, Drew took that step into the world of singer-songwriting, taking up where her parents left off.
One-on-one, Drew and her guitar create an image of a great singer-songwriter.  Her lyrics thoughtful, wistful and full of imagery.   Her voice is pure and emotive.  The guitar, simple and supportive.   But this is only one side of her.  Backed by some well-known Chicago musicians, the Rachel Drew Band reveals that other side, one in which Drew can hold her own with such contemporaries as Anna Fermin and Neko Case.   There's that certain Chicago-Americana sound in the band.  Where pop sensibility meets the edgy Americana established by such bands and artists as Wilco and Langford.   The razzle-dazzle as straightforward as a no-nonsense Chicago red hot from Super Dawg.
Drew is the ringmaster of this band, and her interview reveals her thoughtfulness on lyrics, motherhood, the music business and making soup.
