Strong Dads - Jeff Friday, Built 4 Winning - Episode 120

Everybody likes to win!  Winning makes everything feel right.  Even a bad day with a single good win can make things feel better.  But, the truth is, our lives are filled with plenty of losses.  It can't be avoided.  A loss is simply when we don't get what we want.  It could be on a scoreboard, our paycheck, our marriage, our kids, no matter what area of life, we have disappointments and let downs.  

Strong Dads welcomes Coach Jeff Friday into the studio to discuss the release of his new book, Built 4 Winning.  Jeff has spent over 21 years as a strength coach in the NFL.  Working with such teams as the Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, and Cincinnati Bengals.  Through his years he has seen winning and losing at the highest levels of sport.  In fact, Jeff was a member of the Baltimore Ravens when they were the 2000 Super Bowl Champions! 

During this episode, we discuss a bit of Jeff's story the led him to the NFL.  In that story, our conversation goes much deeper than the NFL.  It goes into winning in life!  Jeff tells of his coming to walk in humility and gratitude when he recognizes how special his opportunity has been to do the work he has been able to be part of.  He recognizes that all men, no matter how big and strong, are filled with fear and insecurities.  It just wears a different mask.  Jeff helps us see how to go past the fear and develop our courage to win.  

A key takeaway is Jeff's recognizing that his winning mindset comes through his acknowledgment and surrender to Jesus Christ.  Learning to give all the glory for the wins to Christ for his provision in us.  Learning to have peace in the loss so that you can step back and see the bigger lesson or path you are on.
