Is your fuel tank running on empty? This question may be a little more difficult to answer than you think. You see, most of us don't realize that we are running on only one fuel tank, but we are running multiple engines from that fuel tank. So while one engine may seem to be running hard and fast, another engine is going to have to sacrifice some of its fuel to support the fast-running engine.
Here's the point. Often times we are running hard in certain areas of our life and when we are just looking at this area we are killing it! But, when we remember that there is only one source of energy that has to feed that area of your life, we quickly learn that you will have to cut back in other areas in order to feed the area you are thriving in. For example, if you are gaining traction at work and driving for the next promotion it is likely you are putting a significant amount of time and energy into that work. There are only 24 hours in the day and a finite amount of calories available in your body. So, something has to be sacrificed. What is the first thing you put on the chopping block?
That is really the question; What is the first thing you are willing to put on the chopping block? Are you giving up time with your family? Are you taking away from your physical health? How about stealing from your time in faith practices? All of these may seem like a worthy or even easy thing to steal from. The question is, what is the cost?
When we rev up one engine that is tied to the same fuel tank as another engine, we must do so at a cost. As a Strong Dad, we must be aware of the potential costs are for our sacrifice. Nothing comes to us for free.
As you listen to this show we ask that you consider what and how you have been sacrificing. What is it worth? What will it cost you?
