Summary:
Ice removal may soon be a lot easier. Researchers have developed a way to make surfaces ice-phobic by altering the pliability and slipperiness of polymer coatings. The process, reported online March 11 in Science Advances, could lead to a wide range of long-lasting ice-repellent products including windshields, airplane wings, power cables and frozen food packaging, the researchers say.
"New Process Encourages Ice to Slip, Slide Away" is from the April 16, 2016 issue of Science News.
