A young journalist who thinks she's about to write a quick food truck review, observes something unusual about the truck, giant bugs that only she seems to see.
Genre: Fairy Tale, Fantasy
Excerpt: What are they? Ria wondered, taking off her glasses and putting them back on. The bugs were blurry without her glasses, but still present. They reminded her of the iridescent green beetles that came out every summer. Except, these food truck bugs were graceful and quick. Who else can see them?
No one else, it seemed, from the reactions of the food truck workers and the customers.
What story or stories am I revisiting in this episode? Each Season 8 episode is a standalone story, but it’s connected to or inspired by a previous story through a character, a place, an object, a concept, a continuation of events (ahem, sequel), and so on.
This story is connected to the Season 7 story entitled “Welcome to Thoughtsburger,” in which a young journalist follows a lead straight into her dreams and to a diner that serves platters made from thoughts.
MY FIRST BOOK IS OUT!Ever wonder how I’ve gotten all these hundreds of stories written? I have a method. And I talk all about it in my book called Fictioneer’s Field Guide: A Game Plan for Writing Short Stories.
It’s now available as an eBook, paperback, and hardcover.

Episode Art Description: Digital drawing of a young woman with a ponytail and glasses, seen from the waist up, centered and facing forward. She’s holding a hand pie in her right hand. Her left hand is in the pocket of her hoodie. A trail of colorful sparkles crosses in front of her and leads to a burst of light just above her head and to her left. To her right is the portion of a lamp post. Behind her and flanking her are two food trucks. The one at right (her left) bears a sign shaped like cartoon lightning that reads “Pizazz Pocket Pies.” Watermark of “Storyfeather” along side of food truck at right. Rectangular horizontal image is made square by adding top and bottom borders with shapes and colors from the original image.
