At the end of the interview we are joined by somebody Caitriona met in the closing stages of Comrades during a time she had a real fear of not making it. Wayne Spies was on hand to provide Caitriona with extra motivation to push through to claim her gold medal. The two of them haven’t spoken since that moment on race day so I was glad I could facilitate the reunion which encapsulates the true Comrades Spirit.
