The 5 Procedures:

1.  Give in to God

2.  Listen to God’s direction

3.  Check Guidance

4.  Restitution

5.  Sharing – For witness and for confession

 In this episode I’m going to speak about yet another list from the Oxford group. This one is called the five procedures and I’ve listed them above. As you can see, these procedures are also in line with the overall ideas of the 12 steps.

In the first procedure it says to “give into God”. This., Along with the second procedure of “listening to God’s direction”, we are thoroughly involved with the first three steps.

Procedure 3 is comparable, I think, to the beginning of our spiritual lives when, in the fifth step we talk to another human being about both our history and our solutions. It is also connected to steps 10 and 11, in which we continue to try to follow the directions of God.

There is no question that procedure number 4, “restitution” refers to steps 8 and 9.

Procedure number 5, certainly refers to step number five which includes a confession of sorts, and step number 12 where we talk to others, explaining our history, and hopefully, encouraging them to take a similar path.

Once again, all of these tidbits that I keep finding in the Oxford group are definitely pointers to the creation of the 12-step program.
