Step¶ number 10 could be the poster child for working the steps in my day-to-day life. Of course, this step is an extension of step number four where we began our action steps. Step four was most likely a very cleansing experience if there were two things present. The first was our determination and sincerity in doing this step. This would actually help to satisfy the psychological cleansing of the 12-step program. However, there is a second, spiritual ingredient that is absolutely necessary if I am doing these steps in order to receive their designed spiritual cleansing. That necessity is the accomplishment of the second and third steps. I must “come to believe” that the power of God is with me. Next, in step number three, I say the holy and eternal “yes” to God. These 2 Items Pl. me on the spiritual path versus a simple, psychological cleaning. Now, because this podcast assumes that we are all attempting to do these 12-steps spiritually, as they were meant to be done, I will assume that you, the listener, is on the spiritual path.

This indicates that as I am trying to do the 10th step in my day-to-day life, I will do it with the assurance of having every ounce of God’s power at my disposal. It becomes a way of life to examine my day at the end of it, realize who I may have offended, and admit when I am wrong. This truly does, with practice and faith, become a way of life. I automatically catch myself, sometimes when I am actually in the process of fighting my Spirit in order to do, or say, what I would like to do. However, I, as well as all of you, have that voice of our Spirit constantly acting as our advisor. We need only to be willing to listen to It. The longer I practice this way of life, the shorter the space between noticing or realizing my defects of character or shortcomings, for me to admit those things to myself and admitting them to others.
