I have thoroughly examined those parts of this step that have to do with my honesty with myself and my willingness to level with God about what I have done with my life. Now is the time to tackle sharing my discoveries about myself with another person. If you find this to be a nerve wracking and daunting task, well, welcome to your ego. Many of us get to this point in spiritual recovery and think, whoa, I didn’t sign up for this. I’ve had a hard enough time just looking at this self-examination myself. Now I have to share it with someone else?
Once again, I need to solidify my newly discovered union with God. Yes, revisit the first three steps, (which, by the way, you might realize by now, is a life-long activity), and rededicate myself to those principles. I may be a babe in this spiritual world but I must realize I’m in possession of all of the Power of my Spirit. It’s not that the Power is less at the beginning of my awareness, it’s just that I haven’t learned to depend on it. Let me repeat my analogy of the switch. Once I say ‘yes’ to God, His Power is instantly available to me. It is not a switch. It is more of a rheostat, like a dimmer switch. I only need, over time, and learning to ‘turn things over’, to God, and I will be able to use all of God’s Power.
Once I am firmly immersed in the first three steps, this step, including this part of the step, becomes a beautiful opportunity of hope and progress in my life to come.
In this audio I will talk about who you might choose and some particulars about actually ‘doing’ this part of step five.
