First , I would like to mention that from here on out I am going to try to get these podcasts out on Sundays. Hope that doesn’t inconvenience you, but my original thought was to publish these on Sunday at 6 PM and somehow I’ve slipped to publishing them on Saturday. I think I can attribute that to being 78 years old!
Next, my thoughts about step 10 and the gift of perseverance is obviously going to an unusual four parts. I am doing this I remembered how important a part of step 10 in the literature is to me. I think, on one hand, that reading the following from the 1st edition of the “Big Book”, or Alcoholics Anonymous, it can be a little scary. On the other hand, (and I hope this is the case with you), we will say, “Yes, thank you God for leading me back to sanity”. As is referred to in the excerpt, and I paraphrase, This is the miracle of the 12 step program!
Talk about our actual addiction not being “in our face”, or important any longer. Here is the excerpt:
And we have ceased fighting anything or anyone— even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have re- turned. We will seldom be interested in liquor. If tempted, we recoil from it as from a hot flame. We react sanely and normally, and we will find that this has happened automatically. We will see that our new atti- tude toward liquor has been given us without any thought or effort on our part. It just comes! That is the miracle of it.
This is what I will be speaking about in this episode. Thanks again for listening, and as a reminder, any of your comments are welcome. My email address is: [email protected] .
